Grade 6 Science Q4 - Earth and Space
-featured.png)
This Grade 6 course links Earth and space science to Filipino communities. Students study volcano formation and local risk using maps and PHIVOLCS alerts, examine wet/dry seasons, model Earth's rotation/revolution and eclipses, and explore constellations and indigenous sky lore. Through hands-on activities and safety planning, learners build practical skills in data interpretation, hazard preparedness, and culturally respectful scientific understanding.

What you'll learn
- Explain the formation of volcanoes and use local information to identify the nearest active and inactive volcanoes to assess community risk.
- Interpret PHIVOLCS Volcano Monitoring (Alert Levels) and demonstrate appropriate actions to take before, during, and after an eruption.
- Describe the two main seasons in the Philippines and suggest suitable human activities for each, linking these patterns to observable climate changes.
- Demonstrate the rotation of the Earth on its axis using a globe or model to accurately explain the cause of day and night.
- Construct and use a Sun-Earth-Moon system model to explain the observable effects of their predictable motions, including the changes in seasons and the occurrence of solar and lunar eclipses.
- Explain why ancient cultures relied on constellations and gather information about how indigenous Filipinos interpreted patterns in the night sky for navigation and time tracking.
